City of Belgrade/Air Serbia
Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in the heart of the Balkans, the meeting place of East and West. Over the centuries, it has been demolished and rebuilt countless times. A city that keeps up with the times, modern and contemporary, but which preserves its rich history. The accelerated development of the city contributed to Belgrade becoming more and more attractive both as a tourist destination and as a good business environment for numerous companies. It is a gathering place on the banks of two rivers, known for its hospitable people, rich culture and artistic life, museums, festivals, excellent food and music. The panorama of the city is constantly gaining momentum, the Belgrade Waterfront has made the appearance of the city impressive, which can be seen both from the banks of the rivers and from the air, although it still preserves the traditional spirit combined with the modern times to come. Belgrade, as a city of the future and a city of great expectations, is the proud host of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027, which will put the capital of Serbia on the map of central world destinations.
Throughout history, Belgrade has been a major crossroads, and Serbia was among the first 15 countries in the world that had aviation. The first passenger plane from Belgrade took off exactly a century ago, in 1923, when Belgrade found itself on the path of the first air line between Paris and Constantinople. Five years later, the Serbian airline, originally founded under the name "Aeroput", on 15 February 1928, established its first Belgrade-Zagreb line. Our national company "Air Serbia" is in the eighth place on the list of the oldest airlines in the world, which are still operating. Serbian visionaries founded the first domestic airline in 1927. From "Aeroput", through "Yugoslavian Aero Transport" (JAT) and Jat Airways, to Air Serbia, which continues to write the pages of history, the role of Belgrade as a regional leader in the aviation industry is being confirmed.
Today, "Air Serbia" flies to over 90 regular, seasonal and charter destinations throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia and Africa, both in passenger and cargo traffic. It cooperates with partner airlines and can offer flights to international destinations in Asia, Australia, North America and Africa and is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The national air carrier Air Serbia broke all records by publishing a report that for the first time in its history it transported as many as 3 million passengers in one calendar year. Belgrade would be extremely honoured to host the world's major event CAPA - Airline Leader Summit, which deals with the most challenging aspects of global aviation, with all its hosting capacities, the history and tradition of aviation, our experts, position, following the most modern trends and as a city at an important crossroad within the growing perspective of European development.
